Villa Park is the latest city to join the sanctuary fight in an increasing chorus of dissent against SB54. The Villa Park City Council passed a resolution opposing SB 54, the California Values Act and voted to direct the City Attorney to seek options to join an amicus brief against the State of California in invalidating SB54.
The city council stopped short of passing an ordinance (law) against SB 54 due to concerns over litigation costs. To date, only Los Alamitos has passed an ordinance against SB 54 and are already facing litigation from the ACLU. Los Alamitos legal fees are being funded by a Go Fund Me account.
