Pure Skin and Body isn’t just about facials, it’s about making you love what you see in the mirror and getting that confidence back. That is what Devyn, the owner and esthetician, wants for her clients. “When your skin is clear and you see that glow, you just feel better,” says Devyn.
Devyn McArthur was raised in Villa Park so when she became an esthetician, she knew she wanted to start in the same city where she grew up. “It is a small community and it is fun to start a business with familiar faces,” she said. For years she worked in the family restaurant business, which is obviously very different, so she had to introduce herself in a new way.
Devyn actually started in makeup. She went to Empire Academy of Makeup to study makeup and skin care in 2001. After 260 hours of lectures and hands-on work, she was more than prepared to move on with her career. Next she worked at Nordstrom to gain more hands-on experience to learn even more about the makeup industry. Shortly after she was asked to go back to Empire and teach the first course that focused on skin care and the basics of makeup. From there she started Charlotte George Makeup which concentrated on skin care and makeup consultations. After years of teaching and doing makeup, she decided to focus on skin and earned her Esthetics license. Devyn’s passion for skin comes through with every service and she is committed to educating clients and achieving results with skin care products she uses, loves and trusts.
Continuing education is important to Devyn so that she can bring the latest information on the best services and ingredients to help her clients skin. “This is a constantly changing field,” says Devyn, “so I am always reading and researching to see what new thing I can do for my clients.”
When she first became an esthetician she had a unique advantage to be able to start her own business. “It wasn’t easy but I wanted to be able to use the products and treatments I thought were best for the skin rather than working for someone else who required me to sell what they thought was best. I tried so many different skin care lines before deciding upon Skin Script Rx and Le Mieux. Results and price point were important. I do not think you need to spend a fortune to have good skin.”
Devyn has left the comfort of the Villa Park center, but she didn’t go far; she is just across the street! “I know my clients and I know I can never go too far away,” she laughs.
Recently Devyn started a Podcast to reach even more people. “I love educating clients about their skin. I always give an honest approach because it is not about selling, it’s about my clients loving their skin.” The podcast focuses on skin care and occasionally makeup; but she is not just talking about her products, she gives a general approach to skin and then will give recommendations.
