The 2nd Annual Community Tree Lighting event is coming to Orange Park Acres at Salem Field. Come out to celebrate the holiday season, mix and mingle with friends from the community, and raise funds for those in need. Orange Park Acres volunteers and Salem Lutheran Church & School are partnering to host this exciting fundraiser to benefit Operation Santa Claus and Lovebugs Rescue.
Community participants are invited to bring *New* unwrapped gifts for toddlers, kids, and teens. Gift cards are also welcome. Guests at the 1st Annual Community Tree Lighting event will enjoy singing along to popular holiday music, snacking on fresh, home-baked treats, and sipping warm coffee and hot chocolate. Come out and celebrate with old friends, make new friends, and help bring joy to children and pets in need this holiday season.
Operation Santa Claus is an annual gift drive that collects donations to provide holiday gifts to “children who are abandoned, neglected, abused, or placed in foster care, and served by the County of Orange Social Services Agency, Health Care Agency, Probation Department, Child Support Services, and OC Community Resources.” Operation Santa Claus most appreciates cash, checks, and gift card donations so that holiday gifts can be purchased for these underserved and much-deserving children. Suggested gift card donations include Target and Wal-Mart.
Lovebugs Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue organization that partners with local shelters to find foster homes for animals to reduce overpopulation of shelters and reduce the need for euthanization of animals without homes. Lovebugs Rescue appreciates cash and check donations, as well as gift cards from Target, Wal-Mart, and Amazon. Lovebugs Rescue is also interested in connecting with community members who are interested in being foster families, volunteering at events and fundraisers, and providing transportation for animals in need.
