The nomination period for the 2026 Villa Park City Council closed on August 7, 2026, with three candidates qualified for three available four-year City Council seats.
Nicol Jones, Jordan Wu and Chad Zimmerman were nominated and qualified for the three terms. Because the number of qualified candidates did not exceed the number of offices available, Villa Park did not need to hold a contested City Council election for these seats.
Under California Elections Code Section 10229, the City Council could appoint the qualified nominees to office. The Villa Park City Council met on August 19, 2026 to address the appointments. Anyone appointed under this process qualifies, takes office and serves exactly as if elected at a municipal election.

Why There Is No Contested Villa Park City Council Election
Villa Park has a five-member City Council elected at large to four-year terms. For the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election, three four-year council terms were available and exactly three candidates qualified.
California Elections Code Section 10229 provides a process for a city to appoint qualified nominees when there are not more candidates than offices to be elected. The City of Villa Park published notice of that process and considered the appointments at its August 19, 2026 special meeting.
